The Ménage a Trios

It is one of the most common male sexual fantasies around, the ménage a trios - having sex with two other partners. Football or hockey fans might call it a two on one rush but alas, the French named it first, and that's what they called it. Most often it is two females and one male, but it certainly may be the other way around.

Why is it that this behavior figures so large in the fantasy lives of men in particular? The answer seems pretty obvious; who wouldn't want more than one person sexually pleasing them at once? I bet you would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't at least fantasized about it, even if they won't admit it. It is important to note here that while the vast majority of people have these fantasies, only a small minority of people that actually engage in the activity.

There are many reasons more people don't do it, the biggest one being jealousy. Most people are too possessive of their partners to share them with anyone else. Another major factor is that many heterosexual men and women find the idea of another same sex partner in bed with them to be unappealing or even repulsive. Men in particular often tend to feel this way. There is also often a competitive aspect that enters into the equation, again, particularly among males which tends to put a damper on what otherwise might have been a pleasurable experience.

While most individuals are content with simply fantasizing about it, (in our fantasies, we are generally the one being attended to by two partners of the opposite sex), some people feel the need to give it a whirl. This brings to light the question of how to bring up the matter of you wanting to do this with your partner. Some people have open marriages or relationships where it wouldn't really cause a problem, however; for the majority of us, this simply is not the case. Most frequently it is the man who comes up with this kind of proposition - often resulting in a response of anger or shock on the part of the wife or girlfriend. This can open up a whole can of worms which may leave you fighting for the next week or worse, threaten your relationship entirely. For this reason, many people that are pretty sure that their spouses will react in this fashion will either just go on fantasizing about it, or will find two people other than their partner that are interested in trying it out. Of course if your partner's response is "Oh great, I thought you'd never ask!" then you're in business.
